How to view Instagram stories anonymously
A short, precise guide to lookups, anonymity, live 24-hour stories, and the limits we refuse to cross.

1. Search a public username
Type an Instagram username or paste a profile URL. InstaVeil normalizes the input, rejects reserved paths, and loads the public profile. Invalid names never leave the browser.
2. Public data only
We request information Instagram already exposes for public accounts: display name, biography, links, follower and following counts, verification, category, posts, reels, and related profiles. If Instagram marks the account private, media stays hidden.
3. Live 24-hour stories
When a public profile has active stories, InstaVeil plays the real 24-hour story reels in the full-screen viewer — the same frames Instagram shows, not posts recycled as stories. If there are no live stories, we say so and leave posts in the grid. We do not fake a story tray.
4. Why you stay unseen
Viewing a story inside the Instagram app attaches your account to the owner’s viewer list. InstaVeil never logs you into Instagram, so there is no account to attach. That is the entire anonymity model. It is not a hack of private data.
5. Intel
Engagement, average likes, comments, views, and posting cadence are computed on the last public posts we received. They are estimates, not Instagram Insights. Hidden like counts stay hidden.
6. What stays on your device
Recent lookups and saved profiles live in your browser’s local storage. We do not operate a user account system. Clearing site data removes that history.
7. Ads, cookies, and donations
Optional advertising (Google AdSense) loads only after you accept non-essential cookies. Essential-only keeps the product working without ad cookies. You can also keep InstaVeil running with a PayPal donation. Details: Cookies and Privacy.
8. Rate limits
Instagram may throttle lookups. InstaVeil caches successful profiles briefly so you can keep working. If a lookup fails, wait and retry, or open a recent profile from your local list.
